"The first to say is that Midgard Base Camp does not feel like the stereotypical hostel that one imagines. This starts with the lobby area that has a fun and cozy setup and the restaurant and bar area. Also, the room options are more than just a shared room with bunk beds and community bathrooms. "It's a different experience sleeping in a trailer. The trailer is in very good condition and equipped with a microwave oven an basic tableware, and are actually cozy. But ours must have had some sealing problem on the septic toilet that lead to some unpleasant smells going to the bed area. The lot was under renovations when we got there, but it did not impair our stay since it was really cold outside anyway. If it is windy (it was VERY windy during our stay), the gentle rocking could be a sleep...

"Old place that feels like you are dropped into a different era. Room was really hot. Kept the window open all night and it slightly cooled down. No fridge to use which I think they should have. But staff provided me ice which was nice of them. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful."

"This hotel is in a convenient spot right off the ring road. It is easy to find, and was well stocked with needed ammenities for our stay. The breakfast was excellent (we loved the espresso machine), and we appreciated that it came free with our night’s stay. Be forewarned- the walls are thin and noises carry! "
