"Superb pub and rooms steeped in local history - Robert Plant started his career here playing blues guitar aged 15 in the upstairs blues club (sadly not there anymore but the history is palpable). The pub is a treasure trove of history, and so well preserved, from the original staircases and ceramic tiling on the walls, to the original bar. My room was just sheer excellence. "The room was clean and functional but, there some teething problems with lighting (make sure lower hallway lights are on for room 5 - up top); the kitchenette, if needed, requires a few more tools & gadgets (bread knife, cork screw/bottle opener - assume nothing and ask) and some (flat pack) furniture has been poorly assembled and rattles. But overall it was warm, quiet, double bed with, a decent corner shower room, including a few necessaries, to make it a comfy experience. "

"Only stayed for one night but will certainly be back, the hotel is an old coaching inn from the 1800’s and if you are looking for a bland, anonymous place it’s not for you, quiet, friendly, warm and comfortable with character and quirks, my room had a 10” thick mattress ( i’m sad, i measured it ) with very good quality bedding that gave me a superb night’s sleep and even a settee to lounge on while i watched the good sized tv, views out of my windows were of Lickey forest.
