Our stay wasn't terrible, but it was far from great. Check-in was a bad start. The front desk staff member was unwelcoming and told us she couldn't check us in due to a system issue. We waited nearby, but she checked in another guest without informing us the system was working again.
Breakfast was another issue. I had booked for two people via Expedia, but she claimed it was only for one. I had to contact Expedia to confirm what I already knew. Our room wasn’t as advertised either—no queen bed, just two twin beds pushed together with no topper, and stained carpets.
The service didn’t improve during our stay. Other front desk staff were just as dismissive, offering no greetings and short responses. Housekeeping was also poor. One woman, who seemed like a supervisor, gave us strange looks daily, which made us uncomfortable.
To top it off, we found bugs on the ceiling near the end of our stay, including flies and mosquitoes.
On a positive note, there were a few evening staff who were friendly and helpful. They’re the reason this review isn’t a 1-star.
I’ve visited Germany many times and understand cultural differences in service, but this experience stood out in a bad way. The price might be appealing, but I’d suggest looking elsewhere.
