"I’m extremely disappointed with my recent stay at the Radisson Blu, which advertises itself as a five-star experience but fell far short in nearly every aspect. First, there was constant fire alarm testing happening all day long, with sirens going off repeatedly throughout the building. It made it impossible to relax or enjoy the stay. On top of that, the entire sixth floor—including the pool and bar—was closed, and the elevator wouldn’t even allow access. The outdoor sun and pool area was a major reason I booked this hotel, and it was completely unavailable. Several key amenities were also closed without clear notice. The Gold Coast lounge was shut, Sea Star restaurant wasn’t open for lunch or dinner as advertised, Sky Bar was closed (despite being listed as open until 9), and Thalassa Wine was also not operating. These were all features prominently promoted on the website, which is misleading. The room itself had issues as well. The blinds were broken, forcing us into an uncomfortable situation with no privacy showering and getting ready in front of floor to ceiling glass with the whole city watching you with no clothes. The “30th floor indoor/outdoor pool” turned out to have no outdoor access at all, which again feels like false advertising. Transportation was another major problem. There was no shuttle service to the airport or beach despite it being advertised. We had to scramble last minute and pay out of pocket for transportation. (Cont’d See google for full review"

"This 4-day visit was my third to The Light Hotel since 2015. Like my previous stays, the owner / manager, Jennie, and her staff provide 5-star accommodations, amenities and service for very reasonable cost. A small family-run hotel, you are welcomed and treated like family. My room was spacious, clean, comfortable bed and all the amenities of a 5-star hotel. Breakfast is good. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, ATM. I love the hotel and highly recommend it for your visit to Ha Long."

"Mostly a good time, just a couple hiccups. We stayed in an apparent off season, combined with the fact that there are tons of new builds around with them not necessarily being filled (shops and restaurants). So the area was pretty quiet overall. There are a couple restaurants nearby, but it's also not a terribly far walk towards Sun World park itself where there are more restaurants and mini marts. If you go the opposite direction, towards Cai Dam area, you’ll find more local places and prices. Hotel itself was pretty nice, could use a touch up here and there. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable, window looked out front. Bathroom was mostly ok, but at least in our room, there were several gaps in the shower wall where it met the floor. This meant as you showered the entire floor would be flooded. Again, once we knew, we knew. Breakfast was great too. Hotel manager was pretty helpful getting us rides to/from Hanoi, along with a decent price on a day cruise. My one word of caution with any of these is the actual transportation. Our ride from the airport was an hour late picking us up (traffic...but ya know there's traffic, so plan ahead and be on time for a paid service). On the way to the hotel, we actually had to stop for 30 minutes so he could charge (EV) the car enough to make it all the way to the hotel. On the way back to the airport, different driver had to stop for gas with us in the car. And then asked to take us the long way to avoid tolls. "
