"The hotel is up a steep sloping street and in a quiet area. It has a traditional feel and the cafe is really nice and the hot springs, however there is no view, unless you pay for the private baths upstairs. The whole place could use a bit of a facelift, but more of an issue was the lack of service and the quality of the food, particularly dinner. We arrived too late for the 6:30 seating and was given the 7:00 p.m. seating. Clearly the appetizer box had been sitting out for a long time and...

"Exceptional traditional ryokan if you want to relax in Hakone & Yugawara! The thoughtfulness and service of the staff was wonderful in every aspect. Rooms were supplied with traditional robes, comfortable sleepwear, onsen on our terrace and hot spring baths. Kaiseki cuisine was delicious, plentiful and presentation was over the top. This is a beautiful facility with an excellent staff. If you want to experience Japanese culture at its finest you need to come here. Our 4 day visit was perfect...

"Fairly quiet end Mid April. Couldn’t figure out where the light switch for one of the lights and staff isn’t always around even during the day so it’s a bit tricky to get help. Almost everything is self served which is great but if you need help then it gets a bit tedious. Facilities are great and the location is also very convenient. Quiet, clean, and spacious. "Check in process was not foreign friendly. The room was very old style with no private bath/ shower. Furniture with slight damage and worn carpet. 1960-1970-ish hotel. Hotel app needs work, not easy to use. Restaurant staff were very attentive. Indoor and outdoor hot spring bath were nice."

"Wonderful stay in this beautiful ryokan with private hot spring bath and a breakfast and dinner that would put Michelin starred restaurants to shame. Everyone was so friendly and the owner popped us in her car unexpectedly to see her favorite cherry blossoms at night. The room was extremely comfortable and well equipped. We loved it!"

"We Americans stayed here for 2 nights. Highly recommended. Great cultural experience for those looking for an authentic ryokan in an older style building with communal bathing facilities. Japanese breakfast was really fun but I had little idea what I was eating. Go with an open mind! I was glad there were a couple of very helpful staff who spoke some English. Otherwise, it looked like all local Japanese guests there!"
