"Expedia listing did not say the room I booked was basically a basement prison cell without the benefit of a window. Horrible. No one answers the phone at this property. When you call the number on Google you get charged, even if you hang up the moment you hear the voice saying you’ll be charged. Car Park blocked by bad parker , despite telling the front desk, car did not move so I had to park off site. Never stay at any hotel managed by this chain for the sketchy phone system alone. "I love staying here, lovely setting in the middle of the peak district. Some of the rooms are a bit tired though and could do with a coat of paint"

"Reception staff were disorganised. We had 2 rooms booked - one was a larger king and the other a twin. We were directed to the wrong room. After repacking and finding the correct room the a/c was not working. Engineer never appeared as promised and after a further call a receptionist came to say he couldn’t fix it. "Booked here for mine and my partners 2nd anniversary! Room was bigger than I thought! (Good thing) Nice and clean! Air-conditioning which was a life saver with the weather at the moment! Ended up having a Sunday lunch at the pub next door to the rooms and it was the best Sunday lunch I've had out! Staff we're great and attentive! Would definitely return!"

"The property was fine, could do with a repaint and maybe new carpets as it’s dated. But staff were lovely and food was nice There wasn’t many plug sockets in the room so we had to take turns in using the only socket available"
