"Stayed here overnight while waiting for our next flight. The hotel room was so clean and seemed newly updated. Bed was comfy and bathroom was spacious. The restaurant and continental breakfast were both good. Staff were very kind and accommodating (had a late checkout). Also enjoyed a full body massage at the spa which we highly recommend. Great hotel!"
"Service was excellent. The criticisms were yoga was advertised but not offered due to season. Toilets do not flush well due to design, but not any fault of hotel. Current construction required extended entrance/exit out main door to access beach area instead of the shorter path gate. We found current bath/shower design modern but not very functional or ergonomic. Difficult ingress/egress and water spray from shower not easily contained."
"Amazing staff, especially Ndiphiwe Emihle Siyazi! She was incredibly sweet, warm, and welcoming. She made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived and was so helpful throughout our visit. Her kindness and excellent service truly stood out and made our experience even more enjoyable. Thank you, Ndiphiwe, for making us feel so welcome!"
"I've stayed at The Taj many times, this time was a different purpose as I had a medical procedure to undergo. I wanted to know I could recuperate afterwards in a hotel where I would have a spotless clean and quiet room, plenty of space, great amenities, full blackout curtains, comfortable bed, choice of pillows, and having great staff on hand to take care of whatever I would need in my stay. Knowing I would not really leave my room for a few days I need a great room. All of this I got, and great in-room dining. I was able to enjoy the J-Wellness spa before I had my procedure which was great for being relaxed and ready for that. As ever The Taj and the wonderful staff who work there really excelled at making it a great experience. I will be back soon."
"I'll start with the positives:
- The temperature and shower pressure in the bathroom were amazing!
- The views from our room on the 15th floor were stunning. We had a 270degree view of the mountains, plus a balcony. The downside about the balcony was that the hotel would not provide patio furniture, and staff suggested that we move the side chairs from the living room in and out of the room to use on the balcony...
- Most of the staff were incredibly friendly! Sandy in housekeeping, Gerald at the concierge desk, and Z in the Copa restaurant stand out!
- The location on Loop streeet, close to Long Street, and a couple of blocks from Bo Kaap was awesome. Everything else was a quick/affordable Uber ride away.
Cons:
- The layout of the one-bedroom suites was a bit awkward. The bedroom was small with minimal walking space on either side of the bed. The closet was also small and awkwardly placed. There was no dining furniture, though there was space for it and the pictures of the room showed a dining table in the suite. The bathroom vanity lacked functional counter space. I really wanted to use the club, but it didn't seem super clean.
- Breakfast was very monotonous (same thing every day), and there were not a lot of options other than fruit if you don't eat meat/pork/dairy/eggs. We spent a week and got bored with the food options quickly. There were certain dishes that were quite good and served as consistent fallbacks (smoothies, pancakes, cheese boards)."
