"Hotel was clean and staff very pleasant. Made to feel welcome and given good info at check-in about meal options. Room had some balloons and banners put up for my wife as it was her birthday which was a nice touch. Used the leisure facilities and spa which were both very good. "Am amazing hotel staff absolutely fantastic. Room was large as was the bathroom. Fantastic view of the garden. Free tea and coffee all day. Breakfast was good. Bus stop just outside the hotel to get into Edinburgh city centre."

"This is the real castle deal! We were thrilled be allocated room 4 in the large turret of the castle. A red four postered bed themed room with all the glory of days gone by. "We had a lovely stay at Abbey Strand Apartments. The apartment was very clean and was very well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. "Beautiful old building. Great area. Rooms were quite nice and clean. Just no staff were ever present in our three night stay. An elderly couple who couldn’t speak English sat in the front lobby, often. I’m not sure if they worked there cleaning rooms or were a guest but if the worked there they made no attempt to communicate or help out, which was an issue because the front door to the building on a busy street was always left open"

"Overall the hotel was a convenient location to stay at. Without a car the bus stops to and from the city were almost out front and 2 pound single fares was wonderful. However minor problems were apparent during the stay. There is no lift ( although the staff did assist happily ).
