"Nice room and location "

"Very characterful room, staff were most welcoming and made a lovely fuss of our little dog , as well as giving him a sausage at breakfast time. Nice to have a bath too. Excellent value for money, will stay again."

"Good communal area for children and staff were pleasant. However there was a very strong unpleasant smell thoughout the hotel and in the rooms. There was also large stains on the carpet in the hallways which were wet - we assume they had been recently cleaned. Breakfast was ok - however they had ran out off pastries when we attended at 9.30. Overall unlikely to stay again due to cleanliness/smell. "

"Joules and her Son were absolutely wonderful hosts. We couldn’t have been made to feel any more welcome and we had absolutely everything we needed for our stay. The breakfast was outstanding - lots of choice and super fresh and tasty. Joules’ baking was a great surprise treat, a lovely touch in our room on arrival and the Brownies later in our stay were out of this world! Our room was spotless, very comfy bed, lovely armchairs with the spectacular view over Ironbridge and the valley....

"We've just had an overnight stay & we'll definitely be back, we stayed in the kingsize deluxe room & it was so spacious and comfortable the bed was so comfy & the shower was amazing with a built-in steam & sauna. Everywhere was spotless clean had tea snd coffee amenities with small fridge was self service to check in which was so easy 10 minutes walking distance to the town"

"Location was fine. Room was freezing. Instructions were incomplete so was unable to change mode to actually heat the space. Brekkie was adequate (comparing to numerous Premier Inns I have stayed in over the past 3 weeks of travel in the UK."

"Central location of hotel is excellent. The room I was initially allocated had damaged drawers but the staff willingly offered an alternative room which was fine. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful - thank you for a lovely stay x"

"Plenty of parking, the room was clean and the welcome friendly.The downside was the restaurant was closed when arrived so the alternative was to go out again. We didn't bother, it might have been better to have had some notice of this and we could made other arrangements it didn't spoil matters."

"The Lion Hotel is ideally situated to explore Shrewsbury on foot and you can leave your car on the property, pay at the desk rather than the machine for £5 per day. It is a property that is both historic and with character, having said that the communal areas looked very tired. The room was spacious with a high ceiling, brown furniture and bare floorboards which squeaked with every step so be aware if you are prone to waltzing in your sleep."
