Great location, in a historic factory building from the china works. Staff were very helpful. Plenty of parking and nice location, next to the river. Bed was comfortable but a bit short for a tall person, plus the soundproofing of the room doors was not great.
I don't know what to say other than I have sent my review to YHA with "top marks" for everything. From the friendly welcome received on check-in to the cleanliness of the room allocated, everything was absolutely perfect for the overnight stay. I slept very well & enjoyed the morning coffee in the café downstairs. It was all spot-on and excellent value for money. I will recommend to friends and I would like to book to stay there again.
Thanks to Rob, Ben, Daniel and Jo especially for making my stay so enjoyable. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The hostel and its surroundings are superb- great for walking, cycling, visiting its many museums and just enjoying nature at its best. There are so many great riverside pubs along the banks of the Severn, most within walking distance. Ironbridge Gorge is just two miles away with its iconic bridge and a short distance away is Coalbrookdale with further museums and a beautiful, tranquil park by the river. From Ironbridge there are buses into Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth and Much Wenlock . Church Stretton is nearby which gives access to the Shropshire Hills and the Long Mynd, great walking and, for the more adventurous, a great cycling route. Rob told me not to miss Little Stretton and The Green Dragon pub has beautiful views of the Shropshire Hills. All in all the hostel is a great place to stay- a lovely lounge, very good self-catering facilities and with The Severn Way and The Silken Way on its doorstep so much gorgeous countryside to see. Cannot wait to go back!
Another great stay with warm & comfy room, ensuite and with food provided in the cafe.
Just what we needed for a single night en route for Wales but with time to walk, explore and an evening in the recently flooded pub - good beer 'Butty Bach' & friendly locals!
My stay was very good, check in was easy and fairly quick.
Out of hours door access was explained which was pertinent to our stay so that was very helpful. However if you do return in the early hours, be aware that a lot of the doors are fire doors and slam shut making a big noise.
The shared facilities were well equipped and very clean.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Parking is free. Just be aware that all members of your party need to show their photo ID.
Overall a great stay and I'd certainly return if I'm ever in the area again. It's also made me think that if I need accommodation somewhere in the UK, my first search will be for Youth Hostels.

Lovely location but noisy building
It's a lovely location, car park outside and the parking fee was included in the stay. I didn't use any of the communal facilities or eat there but it all looked in good order. Staff were friendly.
I just needed a stop over to break a long journey. Room and shower was clean with bedding included (but no towels which i knew from past experience).
However it was ridiculously noisy, there was a school group of baby elephants upstairs and it felt at times that they were coming through the ceiling. Fellow guests on the corridor let their doors slam, same with the corridor doors and i could hear the toilet and hand dryer on the corridor go all night. I would have been better sleeping in the car outside.
Up with my band so needed somewhere for five people on a budget. This place was perfect. Nice location, friendly staff, great kitchen facilities, warm room after putting the radiator on, easy access when we came back after midnight.
Friendly, helpful check-in. Free parking on-site during our stay. Very nice, historic location. Pubs nearby (including for meals).
Lots of museums nearby and Ironbridge is within walking distance.
There was some noise of other guests from the corridor and adjacent rooms and the fan dryer in the shared toilet so ear plugs may be helpful to bring.
The en-suite shower has quite restricted headroom which I think would be an issue for anyone over 6ft - in that case, the shared showers may be better.
We didn’t use it but the communal kitchen looked very well equipped and was a good size. Cosy, spacious upstairs communal lounge.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The fire doors should have some way of making them quieter when they close. There was a big group staying in the hostel (we were warned and we had the option to stay elsewhere but we had no idea it would be so noisy) and our room was next door to a fire door and it was banging until well past midnight and again early in the morning. Consequently we had little sleep that night. The plumbing was also noisy, and again our room was close to the public shower and WC.
