"For our stay, our bedroom was well appointed, clean and spacious. The owners were very friendly and looked after us well. They used very efficient systems for checking in and checking out with no disruption or hassle whatsoever. Breakfast was generous with choices from a wide ranging menu that catered for all tastes. Car parking was plentiful - adjacent to the main entrance. Bedrooms and dining room are located on the first and second floors of the house but there is no lift (not a problem for us). Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would definitely consider gping again "

"Breakfast was lovely, range of options to choose from, room was very clean and staff were very friendly. Our room itself was very nice with beds, sofa, relaxing armchair by the window to enjoy the view. The restaurant food was so good and again the staff were very friendly. We will definitely return."

"Feminine used sanitary products filled the bathroom bin. Half eaten takeaway fish and chips in the fridge. Washing machine has a full load of bedding in it. There was quite a few opened jars, tubs and dry cooking ingredients in the fridge and cupboard. The room is comfortably furnished, could do with another arm chair. The cooker, microwave, toaster are all clean and work well. The bed was freshly made, the mattress a little too soft for me (personal preference). There is a Morrisons local literally within 2 minutes walk and limited free parking with in 100 metres. I would stay again for the price, but I'd be prepared for a little clean up. Please don't be put off by my negative comments."

"Unfortunately I had an unpleasant stay at the Middlegate Hotel - I stayed for 2 nights in Sept. 2025. There was very loud music playing late into the night (until 11pm) on a weekday which made it impossible for me to sleep. A band playing very loud music right under my room. This is not acceptable and made my stay at the hotel a miserable and a very negative experience. And during the day there were strange people coming by my window and looking into and inspecting my room thereby violating my privacy. Again - this is unacceptable. Thirdly, the shower was out of order and of course no one was present at the reception. A functioning shower is essential as well as privacy and quiet night time."
