"4.5 stars my A$$. This hotel is a joke. Hasn’t been refurbished (at least) in a decade. Carpet floor is totally damaged with bits hanging randomly here and there. Furniture chipped everywhere. The breakfast was miserable in look & feel. Not even comparable to a basic Travelodge."

"Stayed for 3 nights, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, there was air conditioning, the accommodation is in a lodge, separate from the pub,we didn’t have breakfast, we had one evening meal at the pub, which was ok, although rather expensive for ordinary pub grub."

"The hotel was clean and it had secure parking around the back. Breakfast is incorrectly advertised as online it says breakfast cooked to order, but in reality it is packaged croissants, apples and cereal. Not the warmest of welcomes from the staff. All round ok stay"

"We had a fantastic stay at The Family Tree. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was lovely, clean and quiet. And the breakfast was amazing! Just a few minutes’ drive from the Tramway Museum, or a lovely 40-minute walk along the canal to the Hurt Arms in Ambergate. In the end, we were sorry that we were only staying the one night; wish we could have stayed longer. We will absolutely stay here again the next time we’re in Derbyshire!"

"We truly enjoyed our stay The room was very clean, however the mattress was not so comfortable and the pillows were very flimsy. The room we stayed in was right next to the doors for the stairs so we heard the doors slamming quite often, perhaps a soft close door could solve this problem. Other than this the hotel is very well kept and in a wonderful location mins from the City Centre, without all the noise. "My stay at Horsley Lodge was fantastic. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left the staff were outstanding . I stayed in the Barn cottage and I cannot recommend it highly enough, the same goes for the food that comes out of their kitchen. I have already started to recommend Horsley Lodge to my friends and family."

"The room, a junior suite, was most comfortable but sadly lacking in air-conditioning, although the current heat wave has been exceptional. Lovely views, peaceful, apart from the noise of the butterflies, all that one could wish for. For the price the owners may want to consider replacing the square of soap with refillable pump dispensers and providing a loo brush!
