For excellent views of Seville’s old Jewish quarter, known as Santa Cruz, Climb the steps of the Giralda bell tower. The 12th-century bell tower is attached to the Cathedral of Seville, a vast gothic wonder with 80 chapels.
Wander through picturesque squares, such as the Plaza de San Francisco and the Plaza de Santa Cruz, both of which are lined by historical landmarks. Make your way to the Triunfo Plaza which sits between iconic buildings, including the cathedral and the Real Alcázar. Among the many other highlights of a visit to the old quarter is the Casa de Murillo. This museum is dedicated to the 17th-century baroque painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo and is housed in the mansion where he once lived.
Reach Seville’s historical centre by bus, taxi, tram, metro or car. Street parking is limited at most times of the year so if you are driving, it’s easiest to pay for parking in garages inside and outside of the old quarter. You can easily travel around the Historical Centre on foot as many of the attractions are within proximity of each other.
