Pathumwan is one of the largest districts in downtown Bangkok, and arguably the most visited part of the city each day. Wat Pathum is a beautiful temple that tourists should not miss. It rests between the glitzy Central World and Siam Paragon department stores, and offers guests a tranquil retreat. In addition, the Erawan Shrine is located just down the road, at Ratchaprasong intersection, and the shrines of Ganesha and Trimurti are found at nearby Central World’s courtyard.

For the best dining options in the district, visitors should go to Central World’s Heaven on Seven, The Groove, and Siam Paragon’s ground floor. Siam Square also boasts a large number of restaurants, so tourists will never go hungry when staying in Pathumwan. The best spots for a night out are in the five-star hotels, which contain some famous clubs and pubs, such as Mixx at the Intercontinental, and the Erawan Hyatt’s Spazzo club.

Shopping is the most popular activity in Pathumwan. Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery Centre, Siam Centre and Central World are the largest malls in the area. Tourists will find a range of international retail brands, electronics and other services in these classy malls. Siam Square is also worth checking out, but it boasts clothing and accessories more for the teenage market.
