"Clean spacious room, driving up the mountain to get there at night (was also really foggy) was a little precarious. We arrived late evening so the restaurant was no longer open and there is no place close by to get snacks or anything. "When I originally booked my stay, comments from previous guests described the decor as old and outdated. I found the opposite. The building is old (German poet Schiller once stayed there), but the room was modern throughout with walk in shower and staff very professional and polite. Breakfast was very good, and the hotel is right on the market square in the heart of the city within easy walking distance of everything. A farmer’s market is in the market square in front of the hotel several times a week as well as a stand with Thuringian bratwurst. A tourist info center by the market square next to city hall (Rathaus) was very helpful. I highly recommend the Adler Hotel in Rudolstadt."
