"Positives were that the building inside is absolutely beautiful and the room was incredible. Loads of space. Social gathering with free drinks was a nice touch. All internal areas of the hotel were amazing. Negatives were that the outside of the building was covered in scaffolding. Not nice to turn up to that when you’ve paid so much for a room. If we’d have known we would have gone with another option which was the Midland or malmaison. Would have appreciated prior warning that work is being carried out. Also, despite the fact that we paid for 3 people, the room was only prepped for 2, 2 cups, 2 robes and slippers, 2 lots of snacks etc. Double beds are also very small. Basic double and not queen/kingsize. Breakfast coffee was awful. For the price of the stay a latte or cappuccino would have been nice instead of lukewarm filter coffee with cold milk. "

"This was my 4th stay at The Clayton, as always it was perfect. Had an evening meal the night before I flew on holiday and also stayed the evening I came back. The evening meal was really lovely, especially the soup. My room was comfortable and clean and well stocked, the bed was very comfortable. On my return after my holiday I checked in approx 10pm. Yet again the room was comfortable, but I did notice that some of the drinks server's spent quite a bit of time on their phones, no one came to ask if I wanted a drink, I had to go to the bar and ask, it wasn't busy in fact it was pretty quiet. The breakfast is buffet style and was lovely, with juice, coffee, tea, bacon etc. I have already booked to stay again in October and I will be booking again to stay again next March, I won't stay anywhere else. And also a big shout out to the shuttle drivers who heave our heavy cases with a smile. Thank you Clayton Hotel staff, you make my stay pleasurable. "

"Breakfast menu and food was excellent- so fresh and delicious. Rooms clean and lovely pool and leisure facilities. Would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again if I’m back in Manchester. Very close to trains and trams also. "
