"Super friendly and attentive staff, a credit to the hotel. Food was delicious, nice touches included a glass of wine on arrival as, well as biscuits and a small bottle of liqueur in the room. Fantastic, uninterrupted views of the countryside, and the gorgeous highland cattle, in the next field. Overall a very pleasant atmosphere. "

"I loved this hotel. The staff were friendly & helpful. The room & bathroom were clean, with good quality shampoo, body wash and hand wash by Dove. The bathroom door did double service as a door that could close off the toilet area, which was a little awkward, but did mean one person could potentially use the toilet while another was cleaning their teeth. The settee & bed were comfortable, and the desk area was great too. I think the bed was only a 4'6" double, rather than a king - but that was fine for me on my own. The "wardrobe" was just an open rail, and I don't think there was a single drawer in the entire room. I managed ok, but my wife would have moaned about the lack of drawers. I am used to Holiday Inn Express in America, with low quality breakfasts served on a paper plate, with plastic cutlery, so I found the included breakfast, with proper plates & cutlery much better than I expected - with a variety of top brand cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, croissants, Danish pastries, a variety of jams, marmalades, honey, marmite, etc for the toast - together with a hot selection of Cumberland sausages, bacon, scrambled egg & beans, with proper Heinz ketchup, plus HP sauce - with enough staff to clear & clean the tables promptly. I also enjoyed the cappuccino, and selection of other coffees, teas & hot chocolate, as well as fruit juice. The bar seemed to have a decent selection of drinks, and a pleasant buzz in the evening. This is definitely a great hotel for the money."

"Old Travel lodge now run by Asian families. Room is showing signs of werar but is in a convenient location. Unfortunately price has risen by 50% (£38 to £59) so I will be lkooking elsewhere for future"

"The room was unique - with a view of the east window and spire of a medieval church ... from the bath positioned in the bay window. The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean and well presented. Staff welcoming. A good dinner and breakfast."

"Fantastic stay. Room was lovely and spacious. Swimming pool was great for kids and adults. We tried the driving range with the family and the interactive games were fun. Excellent location for Belton House and the garden centre ice house had nice gelato ice cream. Only negatives were there were no more bananas or decaf tea at breakfast but it was extremely busy on the bank holiday."
