"OK, so the Hotel Niwa in Tokyo is a literal oasis in the middle of the city and it felt so restful to return to this sanctuary at the end of a long day of the spectacular noise and visual overload of Tokyo. From the lobby (and the super helpful staff there), to the breakfast buffet to the lovely tradition-inspired room design, I found this whole experience to be exemplary. There is no ground-floor window or glass door you can look out through from inside and not see greenery, foliage, water displays, wooden walkways, and under-stated beautiful lighting. When I needed help with taxis (because, for some reason, the GO Taxi App wouldn't work in Tokyo, no matter where I was or how many times I tried) and with directions, the staff went above and beyond to make sure I got to where I wanted to go, including walking me out the front door straight into the taxi and sending me off with a respectful bow. The food at the breakfast buffet represented every possible kind of food a visitor or a local might want in the morning - small cozy dining room, greenery out the window, tastefully decorated, and unobtrusive staff making sure everything stayed stocked. Delicious and pleasant! My room, in tasteful white and pale wood tones, had plenty of space and the bathroom, likewise, a good size with all the amenities and comforts you would want. Honestly, I have no notes for anything that needed fixing or tweaking - this hotel did everything right on my June 2026 visit."
