"Fitzroy resort has been around for a long time and it is showing. The island is stunning and the staff are lovely, but there is wear and tear that has not been fixed for years. The pool has damaged tiles I've seen since before Covid, and a lot of the furniture is stained. Our island suite had a great view, but the sofa bed was stained and smelly when we pulled it out to stretch and relax to watch TV. "We did not stay at the Daintree Wilderness due to Expedia overbooking at this hotel. The staff at Daintree Wilderness tried unsuccessfully to notify us and unsolicited found us another hotel nearby to stay Cockatoo hotel which was lovely the owner was gracious and helpful and the room had a large window overlooking the forest. It was light and airy and clean. We were so impressed with Daintree Wilderness staff apology and willing to make it right even though it was not their error. We returned...

"Outstanding lodge in a nature reserve with great facilities and friendly helpful staff. The chalet accommodation was spotless, comfortable and very well equipped, and the location in the nature reserve was great. The food in the restaurant was excellent. Only stayed one night, but wish we had stayed at least one more. Having said that, it was not cheap, but good value for what was on offer."
