"Plus sides: next to the Donkey Sanctuary and the ability to cook for yourself.
Now for the downsides. Where to begin?
*Couldn't get into contact with the owner for check-in, arrival times, code to the key box or anything. Only after contacting Travelnest (the third company in charge of advertising the property) by phone on the day of check-in, I got a very short email from the owner about the check-in time (an hour later than advertised) and code for the key box. No apologies, not even his/her...
"We were very impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the comfort in the rooms. Both the bedroom and the public rooms were very clean and well maintained. The breakfast and evening meals were superb and we did enjoy having a freshly cooked breakfast brought to our table rather than a buffet style self service where the food had been hanging around. The overall impression was of happy staff creating a pleasant atmosphere"
"This is a great and charming hotel. It looks a bit dated in the outside, but the facilities are great, specially the spa and food services. The town is small with great views of cliffs if you walk to the west. Lots of little shopping. The beach isn’t a plus as it’s rocky, but hotel has nice swimming options."
"We had a very friendly welcome and stay. Breakfast was excellent. The beds were comfortable and because it is a countryside location, it was very quiet. Both Kate and Rambo the dog were great hosts."
"I liked the old world charm of Southern Cross, and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
The bed was comfortable, and there were some nice touches such as strawberries to put on our cereal at breakfast, home-made marmalade, and nice biscuits on the tea tray in our room. We appreciated these."
"Wonderful place with friendly staff and good food.
Stayed one night. Had lunch and dinner there.
Participated in the bar's trivia night - finished last but had a great time.
Free on-site parking, and free breakfast in the morning."
