Hotel Indigo Torquay by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"From the moment we entered the Hotel Indigo Torquay, we knew that our money was very-well spent. The staff, especially Isabelle at the front desk and Jackie in the breakfast room, were over-the-top in service and helpfulness. Every staff member, including the hotel manager, treated us in a friendly personal manner with a very high degree of professionalism. The view from our large super comfortable room was picturesque, overlooking a rocky cove on the English Channel. The breakfast was well-prepared and sumptuous, a served hot meal and a buffet of fruit, cheese, bread (including our favorite, croissants), cereal, yogurt and pastries. We had two very good dinners in their restaurant on nights we did not feel like going out. I would very highly recommend this hotel."

The Grand Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Amazing stay !!! The room was large with a beautiful seaview. Breakfast was perfect and we ate in The Brasserie two evenings in a row and the food was excellent. Can recommend the Grand Burger ! I had a leg treatment/ massage by Jamie in the spa which was perfect and just what I needed. Thank you Jamie ! Will definitely return to The Grand"

Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel
4/10 Poor
"Yet again the air conditioning is broken so an uncomfortable warm night was had. I keep hoping this hotel will improve as it’s so convenient for my business and the location is great. It’s let down mainly from a maintenance perspective and unfortunately everytime I visit it continues to disappoint. On this trip there was also issues with the jacuzzi and the bed/ pillows really were not what I would call 4 star. The staff really do try their best but a constant flow of apologies does not make up for just wanting a good nights sleep."

Royal Beacon Hotel
6/10 Okay
"Room was top of hotel overlooking a crumbling slated roof but it was the cheapest option and loud seagulls every morning sitting on the roof. The room was adaquate but bathroom only had tiled floor so shower went everywhere. Staff were good and polite and helpful, breakfast was fine and hot but also minimal varied selection. Parking was atrocious, with only 6 spaces ? at £10 per night because street parking was normally nose to tail, and full for 24 hours. Because I have a blue badge I parked on the double yellow lines one night and found a space 10 cars down the other ones. Close to front with a zig zag path down to beach from hotel front door basically. Fine for the money apart from parking problems."

Hotel Du Vin Exeter
10/10 Excellent
"We treated ourselves to a little bit more luxury than we usually would as we were staying in Exeter for two days of motorcycle training. Having ridden down from South Wales, the hotel was a real treat to stay at. The room was clean and well equipped, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and for two motorcycles, parking was no issue at all. The outdoor pool was heated and absolutely wonderful. I love open water swimming, so this was right up my street, with the bonus of a jacuzzi in the enclosed part of the pool. The quilt and pillows were feather, which I'm not a fan of, so I requested non-feather pillows, which were brought to the room within moments. Great service, but the pillows were rubbish. However, I like a firm, substantial pillow, so that's simply a personal choice; I can't fault the hotel for providing what I asked for. The breakfast was excellent, and the choice of whiskies and tequilas in the bar was very good. Having never been to Exeter before, I'd definitely go back. The cathedral is beautiful, the local walks through the historic town are gorgeous, and we found an amazing Moroccan restaurant nearby, El Farida, which, for me as a vegetarian, had a great choice"
