"Lovely apartment in a historic building, ideally located just outside the city centre, but within easy walking distance of all places of interest in York. Nice touch of leaving a bottle of bubbly in the fridge - a good sign that the hosts are attentive. The apartment itself is well furnished and equipped, and really does feel like a home from home. "I stayed overnight at The Grand York recently and had a lovely experience. I had a late check-in and Nigel (the porter) arranged a table at a lovely restaurant nearby for me. The room was extremely nice (there was one minor issue which I raised with staff the next day, but wasn’t anything major that it detracted from my stay). I found the hotel easy to get to and all the staff I came across were friendly, polite and professional. I also loved the granola at breakfast - it was extremely delicious (as were the full english breakfast, fruits and yoghurts I had) I only had an overnight stay due to business, but plan on visiting York for leisure longer (this was my first time) and The Grand York will absolutely be my first choice of accommodation !"
