Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas - Adults Only- All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"This is a great location for a quieter relaxing non-super party vacation. All adults which for us was great. There is a family RIU right next door if you want a little change of scenery but we were fine here. This was our second stay at this RIU and we still love it just like the first time. The beach is small here but perfect. No seaweed and crystal clear. Can get crowded easy but everyone is polite here. "
"The resort is easily accessible from the airport. Property is a little dated but clean and staff is excellent. Ocean view room was worth the upgrade. The beach at the property is small and has eroded since last stay. Not a deal breaker, but there is better. Very walkable beach. Resort is smaller in size which is preferable for our liking. Pool options and entertainment were adequate.
The largest drawback from previous stay was the food and restaurant’s. They restrict your options for booking specialty restaurants to 3 per stay. The food options and buffet are just ok. The food options and quality of food has regressed significantly. Best options were from the daily pool side “chef” events and pizza. For a seven day stay, food options and quality will have me looking for a better option in the future unless improved. We have stayed at better for the same price.
Keep your great staff, but you have to improve your meals and availability.

"We had a garden view and the ocean was still visible. The ocean was not very pretty this time of year (lots of seaweed in March) but the pools make up for it ! Poolside service was just okay but Dario at the Gondola restaurant made every breakfast special for my family of 12!! The housekeeping staff is friendly and so are the room service staff! We loved being able to schedule milk to be delivered to the room in the mornings for our baby. Overall we loved the resort and would definitely return! Momo (hibachi and regular side) are amazing for dinners!"
"I went just before the spring break crowd and it was a very cool spot for our group. The branch bar was the spot and all the activities was a nice plus.
One problem we had was we booked three rooms with double beds and the hotel tried to put us in a making room.
Us 30s guys trip for a bachelor party was not going to sleep in the same bed nor were we going to let someone sleep in cot or whatever they had.
So for us, it was just the check-in process that was probably the only negative. I just think it could’ve gone better."
"We have stayed at several all inclusive resorts in the Cancun area. We are a family with elementary aged kids that like activities. We were excited to visit Ava. We loved the room. It was kept very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The food at every restaurant was good and the drinks were also very good. The staff was attentive and fairly quick, everywhere. We also liked the unique activities, like “minute to win it” at digit bar, water aerobics, the obstacle course in the main pool, and many others. We were disappointed that we had to pay extra for some of the activities, like bowling, the arcade and laser tag but we tried them and we really enjoyed them.
The biggest disappointment was for our girls because the kids club was not what we were expecting. The schedule was not flexible and had the kids outside all morning. It seems fine, but did not allow a break from the sun for the kids. They were not permitted to choose activities like past resorts. You either did what was on the schedule or not. Their trampolines were broken during our entire 6 day stay. And there were no toys to play with, just the indoor playground. They did enjoy the art class each day. But that was for one hour and we had to wake up early to sign up for it. The hardest part for parents is the 2 hour “family hour” everyday. It is supposed to be a time for families to come in and play with their kids. But in reality, no one wants to sit and watch their kids play at a kids club. It was empty. "
