Staff were all very friendly, and it was obvious the housekeeping staff was going above and beyond in cleaning. We actually mentioned it as we were walking down the hall because they were scrubbing floors in the rooms and everything smelled so fresh and clean. They made sure we had plenty of bottled water and coffee and towels. The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly, interactive, and attentive....

"Upon arrival I was told they had wrongly given away my room to another guest. Not a good start. Worse, they offered to correct it by asking the wrongful inhabitants to leave. That would not have been a good scene. Instead they showed me two less-desirable rooms. We had to settle. No apologies, no offer to compensate me for their mistake and the displacement, no outreach from the management to discuss. "We had a room with 2 queen beds and a little sitting area which was perfect for our needs. The room was very clean as well as the rest of the house. Staff were friendly and easy to work with. Breakfast was a continental breakfast but they did have breakfast sandwiches to warm up. Parking was very easy. Quick 5 minute drive to downtown Newport."

Room was a little smaller than anticipated and TV, while in a great location to the bed, did stick out a bit and could be an issue for someone over 5'5". The hallway in the upper level could use a little updating but not an issue to the room. We did not try the breakfast as we had to be at our race location before breakfast was served.
