We had a great weekend stay! Having an apartment to ourselves provided wonderful privacy. It was a pleasant morning walk into town (just over a mile) to local shops and restaurants, and Ubers were quick and plentiful at night. On top of that, the free parking was easy and convenient.

Room was clean. Bedsheets were very uncomfortable polyester. The air fresheners throughout the property were very powerful, makes one wonder what they were trying to mask. The outside of house and grounds were in disrepair, made a poor impression. Upon arrival I wondered if we made mistake in booking room in this place.i believe this place was not worth the $&

I enjoyed the stay so much. My room was stunning. It was clean, big, and very comfortable. You are given a code to get through the front door and a code to get into your room. It was very easy. Such a beautiful place the best place I've stayed in a very long time.

We were there during the busiest weekend in Newport. It was the weekend of the boat show and the food and wine festival. On top of that, there were weddings left and right so lodging rates were sky high. The Hamilton Hoppin House was a good deal compared to other lodging options in the general vicinity. What's good: it's very clean, it's convenient to Newport -- most places are a 10-15 minute drive. It has adequate guest parking and when it's busy downtown, it's easy to get an Uber. Also, compared to the newer hotels in the area, the rooms are big. What to know if you choose to stay here: It's self check-in so there's no staff on hand if you need anything. Keep an eye on your messages (ours went through the Expedia inbox) for how to get into the house, what your room number is and the number key code to get into your room. Be mindful too if you have luggage. There is no elevator. It's an old house that's on the National Register of Historic Places so keep that in mind. Those with accessibility needs may need to ask for the one room on the ground floor. That's the room we got but know too -- in keeping with an old house -- you could hear people when they move around upstairs or go down the staircase if you book that room. Overall: good option if you don't mind not having a full-service hotel.

We had an awesome stay at The Hamilton- Hoppin House. The room was very clean and spacious. Our stay was during some of the coldest weather Newport has seen in years and the room was still nice and warm. The property has a ton of historic charm and still provides a very comfortable stay. I would definitely recommend Hamilton Hoppin House

The property is run by AI and EMail. We never met or heard from staff or owners. We heard one guest but never saw anyone, just their cars. The owners sent Emails before arrival with door lock codes for the house and for our room. The owner's Email instructed us to text the owner with any questions or if we needed anything. We did. The pillows were terrible. There were big furry throw pillows for decoration, which are not a plus. The sleeping pillows were terrible - extremely thin even before lieing on them. I sent a text late the first night asking for additional pillows. We never received a response or good pillows. We solved the problem by buying our own pillows at Walmart. Total cost, $25. Huge improvement for our second night. There were furry throw pillows on the bed. They weren't a substitute for sleeping pillows. The building is an early 1800s mansion with steep winding stairs. Our room was large and in good condition. The building itself is in good condition. Plenty of hot water. Big parlor rooms on the first floor. The grounds are pretty and wooded w grass and trees. Use of AI with AI generated email enables owners to keep costs low which presumably leaves more funds to pay for building maintenance. If owners remove their entire hotel staff, they need to respond to guest inquiries and requests promptly.
