"There was a waitlist for rooms when I was checking in…. but like, what is the purpose of booking and reserving a room in advance for? No one wants to wait even longer than the 4pm check-in (I been on the road since 5am). Anyways, the staff who checked me in helped get me into a different room that was available - because I asked. Breakfast was great. Would like to stay at this hotel again but I don’t know if there will be another waitlist."

"I have stayed here a half a dozen or more times. Always very comfortable. We had a suite and it was big and roomie, but this mattress was so unbelievably hard that we left a day early. We have always had a comfy bed but this particular room is was too hard for us."

"The room was very clean and the front desk attendant, David, was very helpful. He assisted us with getting a late checkout. We wish that the hotel had a pool or a hot tub, but it wasn’t a great location only five minutes from Manhattan Beach. Our only complaint is that breakfast ended at 9 AM. We really would prefer 9:30 or 10 as we are on vacation. Expedia website said that breakfast went till 930 but it only went till 9 AM. We would not have booked her if we had known that."

"We stayed at Shade for one night with our 6 month old baby. The room was spacious and has a great marina view. We loved the bath tub on the balcony which we were able to enjoy after our baby fell asleep. They provided a crib, some bathing supplies, and a cute robe for our baby. We dined at their Sea Level restaurant which took long to get seated but once seated, service was great. During dinner, our baby got fussy and need to sleep so the staff helped us move our food to our room so we could...

"This is your basic motel: nothing special — small room; refrigerator didn’t work well; shower drain didn’t drain well; looked like some Tilex could be used. Blackout curtains were nice. A/c blew cold — it was loud, but I consider that white noise. 🙂 No soap in room so I had to go back to front desk to get some. Towels were clean. Small parking lot, so I parked on the street. Nothing special — again, a typical(?) motel room."

When I asked for towels they only gave me 2 towels because we only had one bed in the room. I explained that our daughter was with us and she needed a towel as well. I was met with resistance.
