"Fantastic stay at this unusual property. The staff couldn’t do more to accommodate us, explaining the area and giving excellent recommendations for restaurants - even booking for us! The Onsen facilities were spotless, the breakfast beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Some may find the location a little out the way, but if you don’t mind a short walk then it’s well worth it!"

"price is expensive, and booking for 3 persons but the hotel received booking for 2 persons, will pay extra at the hotel"

"Great location with free parking space. Very nice & helpful staff. But the spa area is too small when u are in the famous hotspring town."

"I can’t believe this ryokan is only a 3-star because it felt like we stayed at a 5-star hotel. The staff we’re very kind and helpful. Our room was clean and the lounge was right outside our room. The bath was relaxing. I also loved that the ryokan was walking distance from the station and everything else. We will be back."

"Very good location, just 5-minute walk to Old town. Super nice and great service-minded staff, especially Ms. Eriko, the landlady. All needed amenities are provided. We enjoy delicious food with pleasant food decoration. Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan is the only place we will stay every time we visit Takayama."
