"The Cottage and Castle is absolutely charming, beautifully decorated and situated in a lovely neighborhood of colourfully painted houses and As well it is anIt’s a real gem. However as we returned after an evening out the stench in the air from a soil, composting, wastewater and recycling treatment plant was overwhelming. I there is a solution to this as Chemainus is a charming town and the Cottage and Castle was exceptional! "

"Overall the cottage was great. Loved the spacious 3 bedrooms. Living room was big and the kitchen had everything we needed. "

"This was potentially the worst hotel stay I've ever had. I've never stayed in a room with such poor sound proofing before and sleeping was miserable. You could hear EVERY time someone opened their door. It didn't help that the bar had karaoke playing super loudly too on Friday and Saturday night. You could hear everything. The guy working at the front desk was lovely but there's only so much you can do to block the noise. It was hard to fall asleep before 1am and I was woken up both mornings...

"Friendly staff, comfortable bed, nothing special but a reasonable place to stay for a reasonable price. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re a light sleeper or a princess but we enjoyed our stay. "

"Oh boy...I greatly dislike writing negative reviews. While Chemainus is adorable, the location is fantastic and the exterior is a dream...this aint it. Mouldy drapes, a number of amenities were broken (electric fireplace, mouldy fridge), no wifi, questionably clean bedsheets. And (I have photos as proof) a white substance residue left on the counter next to the bed. I will say that the indoor jet tub was amazing! I swear I heard a cough below us at one point and noticed a little door that looked...

"The motel was quite run down on the exterior. The interior seemed clean, unusual handprint on the wall & no hot water. My brother's family also had a room that somehow smelled mike smoke from a room below them. No staff to help with the situation amd they had an 18 month old. Many homeless around and in/out parking lot. Didnt feel super safe to be honest."

"We checked in late at 10pm on a Friday. The air conditioning unit did not work in Room 11. The room was very hot. We were too tired to go and request a different room. We opened the windows and made do. They were accomodating with late check out and were very friendly. Other than the heat/AC issue, it was a great stay. Comfortable beds and clean. "

"Given the rate, I did not have high expectations; however, cleanliness is an area that could be improved. The fridge and microwave were not cleaned, which may have been an oversight. The bedsheets also had hair on them, so I wasn’t entirely sure if they had been changed after the previous guest checked out."

"There wasn't even a tooth glass in the bathroom. The beds were soft with pillows half the size of normal ones. No maid service on the Sunday, bed wasn't made, bathroom not cleaned."
