"At check in, the lady who helped us check in didn’t really provide much information about the hotel overall. All she did was ask for our credit card and ID, handed us the room key (without even telling us what room we were in or what floor). We figured it out on our own. Didn’t give us details on breakfast or shuttle services either. The room itself was great. Very spacious and loved the fact that the tv had the options to connect HDMI on the side for easier access. The breakfast was good, but very unorganized. We went down at about 9:20 am (breakfast was until 10 am - which we looked up online since we weren’t told during our check-in process), and we got most of the last couple servings of items and it didn’t seem to get replenished afterwards, so the ones that came down after us didn’t really have any options left. There were barely any available tables and the ones that were “free” had previous plates/trash on there. We were in a rush, so we just pushed that aside and sat to eat our breakfast. We didn’t use the outdoor pool, but seemed pretty spacious. Overall, the hotel itself is in a great location, only took us about 10 minutes to get to Fort Lauderdale airport, and there were lots of shopping/eating options easily at walking distance. However, the staff could use some work around friendliness/attentiveness towards guests. We were only there for one night post cruise stay, but we would come here again because of the location and the room layout itself was great!"

"We have been coming for 4 years and have a great time every time. Everything is so convenient - the beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, little kitchens in the rooms, balcony’s are a good size. We have always have a good view. It’s always very clean. The beds are comfy. Showers have good pressure and are clean."

"Room was large and clean with a little wear and tear. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was as good was can be expected and it filled the void. Off the beaten path but right on the water and a few minutes away from retail. Lyft was about $22 with tip from Ft Lauderdale airport."

Riptide Oceanfront Hotel

"Before I booked I asked about a late check in. They said to notify them and they would have a key ready. I agreed and booked the room right after. Well, I forgot to remind them until 7:30pm that day when we had a layover. I figured it might be in their notes but that was presuming too much. By the time I reached out they were closed. They close at 6pm on a Friday, which was shockingly early. There was no one to call so I sent an email. No response. One would think that they might be looking at their bookings that hadn’t checked in prior to closing up, and reach out to the customer. Again, that must be presuming too much customer service. I was still hoping for the best so we took an Uber to the property. No key, no lights and no one home. There was a sign posted with a phone number to call for emergencies after hours. I called. No one answered. Good thing they posted a line that no one answers. It’s was past midnight at this point. So, we went around the corner to the Marriott and found a very pleasant, very accommodating young lady who helped us book an accommodation there for the night. She said she had heard other people complain about the Riptide. Upon looking at the hotel the next day, I was glad it didn’t work out. It didn’t look like the pictures. Much more run down in appearance. I take responsibility for not confirming the late check-in earlier. I have to own that. I just expect a little more customer service from boutique hotels."

"We stayed at this hotel for 6 days. During our trip we didn’t have water for 8 hours. Luckily we were out when the shut down happened. After calling the front desk we were informed that the water should be back on (it wasn’t restored for another hour after our call). We then were given a letter letting us know to not drink the water (the letter was received after brushing my teeth and getting sick from the water). The next day we received a letter that there would be construction outside our hotel and that cars would not be able to pass without speaking permission. Then on the day before we left the hotel gave us a 3rd letter letting us know that we would not have hot water for 8 more hours. We were never notified during or after booking that there would be construction (there was construction across from our balcony) and the food is too expensive not to mention the amenities charge is mandatory and really was useless to us (access to bikes and kayaks). Other than that the hotel is clean and the pool is very nice: the hotel itself is fine but for what we paid (including extra for the “amenities”) I was hoping to have hot water or at least know about it"
