"I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The room was very old and had a strong unpleasant smell as soon as we entered. The bed was also too short and uncomfortable, making it impossible to rest properly. Because of these issues, we decided to leave after only one hour and could not continue our stay. I would not recommend this hotel."

"I never made it to hotel due to airline canceling flight. The hotel would not give me full refund for something that was out of my control. I WOULD NEVER BOOK WITH THIS HOTEL AGAIN. there should be courtesy given when your flight is canceled and you have no way to get there. "

"The staff were all very nice - zero complaints there. There were a few other things though that were disappointing, though. The typically fitted sheet was flat (fine) but it was too small for the bed and didn't reach top to bottom so we were sleeping on the mattress cover. There was also only one roll of toilet paper stocked in the room for our two night stay, no coffee maker (even instant pouches would have been fine). There were also very slim TV channel options nd the premium ones were 'blocked or scrambled' (we were working during the day and looking to chill in the room at night). One other thing is that there is ZERO soundproofing in the hallways -- we were there while the hotel was full of College Formal attendees, and we were woken up several times through the night (we love a good party, but even when just talking normally we could hear every.single.word) into the wee hours. Overall, location is stellar, the hotel is pretty, but the amenities are slim. You shouldn't count on any extras in the room. "

"The best thing for me about the Palmer House Hotel is its location just steps from the Red Line El Monroe station and only a block from the Blue Line Monroe station that goes to O'Hare Airport. It is one block from a large, convenient Target, a spectacular Macy's in the old Marshall Fields building and a block from the Art Institute Museum and another block to Milleneum Park (with the "bean" sculpture). Great theaters, restaurants and sites right out the door, and a Starbucks and easy menu order/pickup store with all kinds of quick pickup options all located just steps out of the elevator. This is a convenient, lovely, interesting hotel that is my first choice when staying in the "loop" in downtown Chicago. You don't really have to even leave the hotel to have an interesting array of things to see (the ceiling in the main dining/lobby area is stunning. And, the spa is great."

"This hotel wasn’t terrible but wasn’t great. We only stay at Hilton Gardens and have always had great experiences but this one was different. The bed we had, not only was it practically on the floor, the box spring was also broken and had us slanting in towards the middle. In the bathroom, there was many different things that were broken. To top things off when waiting for the elevator, we encountered cockroaches. One big plus is the location. Being right next to the red line makes it super easy to get anywhere we wanted."
