"It was very special experience to stay at Japanese traditonal house with my family. It was a little bit far from the main sightseeing site but we were ok because we had a car. Kinkakuji was especially awesome."

"The house was great and in perfect condition.
Great location as it is 3 min from the Inari shrine and close to the train station which is always helpful.
Nothing to complain about except 1 thing: there was no pool table as shown on the photos and we were not told about it. The guy who gave us the keys told us it is being fixed, which is fine but we would have prefered to know beforehand as we were very excited about it.

"Great spot to stay at if you are driving all over Kyoto. They have their own parking spots. The place was really spacious and offered free bikes to use around town. They even have a washer and dryer. I’ll definitely come back!"

"We had a really nice stay at Nohga Hotel Kyoto. The hotel has a great atmosphere, the rooms were clean and well maintained, and the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
One of the highlights was the rooftop—it’s a great space to relax, and the food there was surprisingly good.
Overall, a very pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend it."
"This is a great choice for a stay in Kyoto. My mother and I stayed for three nights and, especially for the price, it felt like excellent value. The location is very central, making it easy to get around and explore.
The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and everything was quiet and well-kept. The bathroom was clean and nicely designed, and the easy online check-in made arrival seamless. A small but appreciated touch was the complimentary coffee and light bites in the lobby after 2 PM.
There were only two downsides. The Wi-Fi was inconsistent. Even with a private network per room, it was often too slow to stream Netflix or other video apps. The breakfast was also a bit overpriced for what was offered. We’d recommend skipping it and heading out to enjoy Kyoto’s incredible food scene instead.
Overall, a really enjoyable stay. We’d happily return and would recommend it to others."
"Absolutely loved this hotel. This hotel gives traditional Japanese vibes. You take your shoes off and put them in lockers and walk around the hotel barefoot. Make sure to wear socks. They offer free socks, toothbrushes, etc and cups of tea. There are men and women onsens along with private onsens. We utilized the private onsens which were very nice and clean. Our room was amazing! There was a little room for the toilet and then across your hall was the sink and shower. Then there was another room for the bed which had a small couch and tv. Everything was very clean. It did not feel weird walking around in your socks the whole time. The staff was very nice. We were getting back late one night and had ordered UberEats but our food arrived before we reached the hotel. We told them our room number and to leave at the front desk. The front desk held our delivery and confirmed we were the right people picking up the food. The hotel is right next to a train stop which is one stop from the Kyoto line. I highly recommend this hotel and would 100% stay there again."
"This a fantastic hotel/ryokan hybrid with excellent staff, an amazing onsen and a kid friendly vibe. The breakfast buffet is a must and there is daily ice cream in the afternoon in their relaxation room. The location is great, walkable from the underground east exit of the Kyoto station. The hotel is no-shoes and they provide all guests with comfortable pjs to use in your room and around the hotel. They have coin laundry so don’t over pack. Believe the hype, or, better, keep this place a wonderful secret. Come prepared to embrace the Japanese culture of quiet, kindness and beauty."
"The hotel was good overall and had a convenient location. The room size was actually quite good for Japan, which was a nice surprise.
The hotel itself felt a bit old and could use some renovation. The air conditioning in the room wasn’t controllable—although they informed us about this from the beginning and even provided a fan at check-in, which helped.
Cleanliness was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay."
"Staff-while other things that need improvement are tolearable what is NOT, is rude staff. From the staff at the buffet breafast to the folks at the front counter who always referred us to self check in/out. A couple of the questions we had were not check in or out and we did not appreciated getting pointed to a machine.
When we first checked in, we were given two pieces of paper; one being a flyer (half sheet) and the other a brochure type with all of the hotel's amenities and services. In both documents it listed check-out as "12:00 Members who made reservations by phone, official website, or official app". Well wha they meant was for their "members" who belong to the JR West Group or Via Inn. Either way it was confusing, and we did NOT need a lady calling the room yealling stating we "must get out" or pay extra.
I told the lady, fine I will pay extra but your documents are confusing. She simply stated, "No not hard, no confusing". So we finally checked out by 12:00 as the documents indicated and paid the extra 4,000 yen. I showed the lady the documents and all she said, "you no member".
For as often as I use Expedia as my main service for travel everywhere, I find this hard to accept. Perhaps give your customers a more detailed list of the things to expect from this perticular hotel. While I do not blame Expedia, I do want and expect Expedia representatives to reach out to this hotel and ensure what my wife and I experience does not happen to anyone else.

"All in all, excellent! Choice of Western style breakfast on 1st floor or Japanese on the 2nd.
Good walking access to the palace park and the old market street and new shops."
