"Only a short walk from the train station, Wheatlands Lodge Hotel was impressive to look at on first view from the street. Well kept garden at front with seating and tables on lawn. Welcomed on arrival, quick check in, offered a local paper guide to York and a complementary hot drink. The bedroom was comfortable and clean but did look a little dated. The ground floor view from the window of a rear outside service area was disappointing as I guessed those on other floors, especially at the front,...

"Brilliant hostel only a short walk into the historic centre of York. All facilities present and in good condition, very friendly and helpful staff. Can't think of anything that could have been improved upon."

"clean room, but the shower was broken to begin with, but fixed after 20 minutes, and loud, drunk guest at 2 am one night, which kept me up for 3 hours, but I did not say anything at the time, with i would not want to deal with such people at 2 am, so can not blame them with just wanting to sleep at the time and did not do anything my self. "

"We loved our stay here! Clean and had a great sleep. Brilliant price for somewhere to stay close to York. Carpark was a little full and some bad parking meant it was a space down, but not the owners fault. Highly recommend for an affordable cute little getaway! Would definitely return"

"The room was very spacious and clean. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was delicious. The only issue I experienced was that the water in the bathroom was too hot and there was no way to make it cooler. Apart from this, everything was good."

"Robert greeted us at the door and was friendly. The room we were shown to was perfect, bed was comfortable and amenities clean and tidy. The location of Kirkgate House was great, in the middle of the town with bars and restaurants within a couple minutes walk. Would recommend and if we visit Knaresborough again, definitely would stay."

"Breakfast was good. Orange juice was very cheap though - not freshly squeezed. Old part of the building is very impressive. Charging for a small bottle of water in the room is unacceptable. Hotel could do with a gym as well."

"Exceeded expectations. The staff team were really friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed and great coffee. We ate breakfast and dinner and had great food.we also atexat the bistro opposite which was great. Will definitely stay again. "

"The staff were very helpful & friendly. The hotel rooms are a bit dated but very clean and the bed very comfortable. The dressing table has no lamp or light nearby, so it is hard to get ready, appying make up as the bathroom light isn't great either. There is a pub across the road which played loud music until 2am plus lots of noise outside first thing because of the main road. Saying that, we enjoyed our stay . The hotel is in a great location close to the sites if you don't mind the noise....

"A gem of a hotel for meeting up with friends. A short walk from the railway station and a great position for York centre -a perfect position for our needs! Super friendly staff, lovely room, cosy areas to sit in the bar and delicious food in the restaurant. We shall return!"
