"Modern renovation, while retaining some original features (e.g. flagstone floor in cafe area). Clean and comfortable. Everything was self service so no staff on site (a bit impersonal but not really an issue). Definitely a good option for fellow solo visitors to the area."
"I brought my girlfriend here for a long weekend stay for her birthday, from start to finish it was a lovely stay, our room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, breakfast was extremely good with plenty of options, staff are all very friendly and helpful. Very close to york itself and found it easier to just Uber in rather than drive. The fat abbot was nice, didnt have food there but had a few drinks, reasonably priced, friendly, warm and welcoming.

"Check in was very smooth. Great location at a walkable distance to Clifford's Tower and The Shambles. Also close to multiple bus stops if you are traveling further. The room was very comfortable and clean. Housekeeping came by every day to refresh the room. They also held our luggage for us the day that we checked out so that we could go explore the city without lugging around our things. "

"Communications before during and after our stay was superb. Our room was spacious spotless and free from any other guest noise. The small treats in the room were a nice touch. The only slight issue was no shower gel in the bathroom so I had to use my wife’s. At least it made me smell sweet . Unfortunately due to our early start we didn’t have breakfast which did smell really nice. We are doing the York 10k event again and will stay here preferably room 14 "
