"I had a wonderful stay at Residence Hotel Takayama Station. The location is extremely convenient—right next to the JR train station and bus terminal, making it easy to get anywhere. Despite this, the room was very quiet thanks to the double-glazed sliding doors; I couldn’t hear any train or bus noise at all. The hotel is within short walking distance to restaurants, supermarkets, and local attractions. Everything was very clean, and the reception staff were gentle, courteous, and always greeted guests with friendly smiles. The room layout is well designed, with cooking and washing facilities available. I especially appreciated the door separating the kitchen from the bedroom, so there were no lingering cooking smells. The toilet is also in a separate room from the bathroom, which is a big plus. Even though it was very cold outside, the room was warm and cosy. Umbrellas are also provided for rainy days, which was a thoughtful touch. Overall, a very comfortable and pleasant stay—I would happily return. punchy,” I can tweak it in seconds 🙂"

"Generous, gave us water in 2l bottles in exchange for two small unopened ones. Breakfast was delightful, with a good variety to choose from. Rooms were bigger than expected, almost like they’ve upgraded them. Overall, a very pleasant stay. "

"Excellent stay. Everything stands out. Clean, safe, wonderful, amazing snowy night and day. Staying there for 2 nights was so dreamy. The onsen experience was unreal. Breakfast was filling with a great set offered. Staffs were helpful and patient. Language barrier was not a big issue. They sincerely try their very best to accomodate. If you want perfect english, best to visit an english-speaking country."

"We stayed here as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids - 10, 6 and 4) in the traditional Japanese room. We didn't get in till 6ish and left early so we could get to Kamikochi but I wish we had of added another night or at least got there at check in time to make the most of the facilities. Unfortunately we didn't have time to use the onsen. The traditional room is set up for tea when you arrive and then the staff comes back later to make the beds for you. The kids loved the experience. We were also able to wear the yukata to dinner. You can call down for kids ones to be brought up. Staff were lovely. We hadn't booked a food package as I have picky eaters but we went to the dining area on level 1 and were able to order a Japanese set meal for my husband and I and the kids had chicken nuggets, spaghetti and ice-cream. Highly recommend"

"The entire Roykan was very clean and comfortable. The staff was personable and we had the best time getting to know them and their families. They all were extremely kind and we were most thankful for their friendship."

"Friendly staff and their attention to details. Never refuse a request. The mixed milky onsen was really extraordinary and a very unique experience. The ladies were given a wrap around and nothing can be seen with the milky onsen. Very discreet , indeed! "

"It was hard to appreciate the full experience as the staff did not have an English translation for key protocol or amenities (I realise it is noted when booking that staff don’t speak English ) But to move forward and guests to experience the full Onsen experience this would be an enhancement The room was spacious but suffered from condensation and could do with some more up to date Electrical points "
