The hotel itself is nice but I was really upset at the fact that this is an all inclusive option (which I did purchase) and I wasn’t able to get a reservation at ANY of the restaurants inside the property. How is this all inclusive? We had to eat at the buffet every day, breakfast lunch and dinner. Don’t get me wrong it’s all you can eat at the buffet but I went there mainly for the restaurants because I wanted to try them. Staff in the hotel were overall helpful, no one could book me a reservation but they were helpful with everything else. It’s very clean. Another thing was that in the website there was an itinerary for activities, the ONE activity I wanted to do they kept cancelling it! 3x it was cancelled. I probably won’t be attending again. I was trying to relax and it was surprise after surprise, it gave me more stress to be honest. Trying to book things on my own.

Nice resort, friendly staff, beautiful sunrises. We stayed 3 nights only. The food was average at the buffet, snack bar was nice and convenient with poolside food and the mexican restaurant was delicious. This is a good little property. We would go back. As long as you aren't expecting 5 star you will enjoy your stay

The overall experience was 10/10 the staff was super friendly, the resort was clean and beautiful and they made everything super easy for us. The views from the lighthouse (Sky bar) is incredible.

I’d recommend this for those looking for a relaxing, affordable (relative to nearby resorts), and reputable spot with food and amenities that are good enough. Don’t recommend for well-traveled, bougie, high-standards travelers. Breakfast, drinks, specialty restaurants, and service were fantastic. It’s in a great location, just a 10-min walk from a superstore and across the street from pharmacies. The buffets were fine, amenities were fine, itinerary is fine (everyone seems to go to sleep at night), and accommodations were fine. My biggest grievance is that the pool chairs are all reserved by 8am, but pool is still half empty by noon. I wish they’d enforce that better so I didn’t have to set an alarm to go lay my towel on a chair. Good mix of families, spring breakers, young, old, etc. Overall, I think you get what you pay for and then some. There are better options, but there are certainly much worse — I had a great time, and it seemed like everyone else did too. Shout out to Fernando, Sabas, Arturo, and Val for being entertaining and kind!

Food & Dining Let’s start with the buffets, because… wow. The food was terrible, nothing was labelled, and half the time we were playing “Guess That Mystery Dish.” And the plates? Calling them “clean” would be generous — we had to dig through stacks just to find one that didn’t look like it had already lived a full life. The à la carte restaurant was actually great, but good luck getting in. Their reservation system is a joke. Six days at the resort and we managed to snag two reservations. Two. For a resort this size, that’s embarrassing. Room & Cleanliness The staff were nice, but the room? Straight out of the 1970s — and not in a cute retro way. The décor was dated, the furniture didn’t match. Cleanliness was another adventure. Mold on the shower tiles, mold around the drain, and one night we were greeted by a cockroach in the bathroom. Nothing says “vacation” like turning on the light and seeing something scuttle. Many stains on the bed sheets and headboard. Pool & Atmosphere If you enjoy waking up at 3 am to reserve a pool chair then you found your spot. There were nowhere near enough seats for the number of guests, so people were claiming chairs the night before just to have a spot the next day. The whole vibe felt competitive and stressful—the opposite of the relaxing atmosphere a resort should offer. Massive volleyball tournament that took up majority of the beach which we were not warned about. Walking by the ocean was the only enjoyable part of staying here.

Red stains on the bed sheets.
Rust on the balconies. Facilities are run down.

Rocky start: paid for ocean view room had view of pool and palm trees. I went down to change room. They did move us up two floors and the view was nice. Said we had to wait 40 minutes for room to be ready, but was an hour and a half. We checked back four times before we got into the room. Bathroom sink facet had a slow stream and couldn’t shut it off. Ran a tub full of water and turned on jets. Lots of black particles in tub. Don’t even want to think about what they were. Food at cafeteria style restaurant was what you would expect, and even a picky eater could find something. You have to have reservations for the other onsite restaurant. Only 1 restaurant was open per night. The Italian restaurant was really good the Mexican okay. Lots of loud music played by pool all day with some exercise classes and bingo. The ocean out front had big waves and some undercurrent. I enjoyed the waves, but not good for smaller children or anyone not really comfortable in the water. One of two main elevators was broken all three days we were there.

We had an excellent holiday. The grounds were georgeous, the pools were great and the staff were very friendly and courteous. The resort was clean and cared for. The rooms were basic but clean and spacious. We are perplexed why people would complain about the food. The buffets had good variety and tasty dishes. Was it perfect.....no but I never left without having something good. The snack bar was bit iffey for me. The pool drinks had little alcohol in them but it was probably was for the best. They need to improve on the pool bar service and set up. The lobby bar made good quality drinks! The competition for pool chairs was a bit tiresome.Getting up early to get your seat was was not a problem because you got to witness the fantastic sunrise. There was always a free chair on the beach.

The hotel was very excellent many activities to keep me and my children entertained and we definitely enjoyed it the food was awsome and the rooms were clean and had a nice view all the staff their were kind and helpful we made many memories!

Great spa experience, staff was amazing, breakfast was great but the lunch and dinner at buffet was lacking. The other two restaurants (Mexican and Italian) were great and high quality of food.

We had a great stay. Everything was in good condition and no issues at all. The resort is centrally located in the city, so it is close to both the market and city square, but still along the ocean so you can enjoy the beach.

We have been staying at this hotel for 17 years before Solaris bought it. It is absolutely awful now. They run out of everything on a daily basis. Who runs out of limes? We were told we could not have a washcloth because they no longer have them. The food at the Italian restaurant was raw. Sea Bass was raw and so was the steak. We never got the pasta and when asked about it, we were told they were out. When we asked to buy a bottle of wine at our expense, we were told no, with no reason. We asked to speak to a Manager, and said person never showed up. When we went to the office to complain, we were told we should have bought a Timeshare and we would not have these problems. If you say no to a Timeshare presentation, all of the staff treat you differently. This place is going to end up being the dump that is next door with the same owners. So sad!! Sadly, we will never be back to this place again.

Staff were EXCELLENT! Make sure you book reservations for dinner as soon as you get there. We stayed for 5 nights and got 2 dinners included per room.

We thought perhaps a 21-night stay might be a bit much at this resort, but we were actually sad to leave! This resort is comfortable, clean and friendly. Most staff are helpful and willing to go the extra mile if needed. The food was just mediocre, and the drinks were not what you would expect at a premium bar. But all in all, we were usually satisfied as we don't put our expectations too high for food and drink at all-inclusives. It makes sense that the hotel is being cost-effective and is trying to reduce wastefulness. There was a daily contest as to which guests could get up the earliest to get out to the pools to place their towels on a sun lounger, I guess this happens everywhere. Coffee was made available in takeout cups for earlybirds like us to enjoy with the gorgeous sunrises on the beach. A nice touch. A very casual and relaxing vacation. We had visited this resort in 2021 for 14 days, before it became GR Solaris Lighthouse, and we most certainly hope to return here soon.

Food repetative. Maintainence lacking. Getting a repair in your room almost impossible. Housekeeping does as little as possible. Handfull of staff amazing. Posted rules not enforced. No improvements with new owners.

We booked an ocean view room and unfortunately there was no ocean in sight. The manager said he would take care of it the next day and haven’t heard a single word from the property. Our room had an amazing bathtub,unfortunately it dispensed yellow brownish water. Called the front desk with the issue and am still waiting for an update. We checked daily on the colored water and every time it was horrible. The buffet was another experience with birds landing on the different food areas. The food was sub par adding to the not great experience at this property. The staff was mediocre and not too helpful when ordering from the pool bar ( Raphel ). The one bright employee was Cecilia at the hostess reception desk. She would always smile and be courteous. I honestly hate to discourage people’s opinion for an all inclusive,but this was not good. Do better please !!
