"When we arrived, we were informed there would be no housekeeping in our room as we were nly there for 2 nights, but could ask for extra towels if we wanted them. In our double room, there was only one towel in the bathroom, this had a large orange stain on it. The location of the hotel was good, central. There is car parking, but it isn't cheap. We only had breakfast in the hotel, which was reasonable, on a par with Premier Inn. The decor in the rooms was tired, the bed was comfortable. Bar was expensive and lacked atmosphere, but they happily exchanged my drink when they had served me the wrong wine!"

"Room was great although quite dusty in places. Staff are friendly however we encountered one staff member being unprofessional upon check out. Generally, we can’t complain for the price and convenience for a one night stay. "

"So noisy on weekends. Can hear music from clubs nearby, drunk people shouting all night, sirens, and people with ridiculously loud cars that felt like they were outside the whole night. Also we requested a bath but didn’t get one and the standard double is too small for two people. Was convenient to walk everywhere but I guess any hotel would be as the city is very small "

"Firstly the positives for the Roker hotel are as follows the parking is good and free with your stay and the staff are lovely a big shout out to Ian on reception he is a lovely guy but positives out of the way the negatives are many firstly the carpet in the passage way is filthy and needs replacing and the chandelier on the stairs is thick of dust with bulbs missing not a good start then onto the room we stayed in well I would say it is show over substance what I mean by that is that the glitz and glam of the over the top furniture is maybe there to hide the fact that the room 143 is shabby and tatty and I have to say these rooms are not cheap we got a good deal but I have seen the price we paid almost tripled on other days and it is simply not worth it the painted finishes are very poor and no care has been taken we have stayed in far cheaper rooms than this and they have been far better maintained there is a bizarre metal carpet joining strip running from the bathroom along beside the bed with screw heads sticking up that are rough absolutely shocking that has been missed ( see the attached photos ) there was a socket hanging of the wall ( see the attached photos ) we paid for breakfast and it wasn’t the best overcooked black pudding under cooked tomatoes undercooked greasy hash brown no butter with the toast of which we had last time it seems standards are slipping at the Roker hotel and it is simply not worth it and to be honest there are far better alternatives "

"Good stay overall. Great location for the city centre and close to everything. Nice room and helpful staff. Good breakfast too. My only issue was with the noise coming from the fuse box inside the room when trying to sleep. It was humming loudly constantly and was quite disruptive at times. I realised too late that to stop the humming I had to take the room card out of the power slot by the door. "
