Rama 9 Guide

About Rama 9

The Rama 9 district is the area surrounding Rama 9 Road, which travels south from the inner-districts of Bangkok. It’s home to a large number of schools, hospitals, condominiums, residential communities and a host of other important services, thanks to its largely suburban landscape. The northern end of the district is where visitors will find Rama 9’s transportation hubs that lead into downtown Bangkok.

Don’t Miss

Rama 9 is not as popular for tourists as downtown Bangkok, but there are several places worth visiting when staying in this area.

At the southern end of the district lie the Rama 9 Gardens – the largest parkland in the city of Bangkok. Here tourists can explore many beautiful garden zones, picnic by the lake, do some recreational jogging or simply stroll through the park and embrace its quiet solitude.

A more lively experience in this district is found at Central Plaza. The upper floors boast one of the best ice-rinks in Thailand, not to mention an enormous play zone for the kids. It would be easy to let youngsters play here for hours on end. The ball-house complex is massive and safe, so visitors don’t have to worry when dropping their children off.

Not far from Rama 9 is the RCA go-kart track. Adults and children alike will fall in love with the speed thrills offered here. The track is not overly large, but still provides visitors with a cure for their need for speed. Adults shouldn’t be surprised to see youngsters zooming passed them while racing the track.

Restaurants and Bars

Rama 9 contains a variety of dining options, especially when it comes to open-air Thai-style restaurants. Places like Central Plaza Rama 9 feature a range of both local and international dining facilities. However, it’s the local 99 baht all-you-can-eat barbecue restaurants and som tam shops that really attract and satisfy diners. The most interesting socialising spot near Rama 9 is RCA. The streets here boast some incredible bars and clubs, and these tend to stay open until the early hours of the morning.

Shopping

The main shopping facility at Rama 9 is Central Plaza. This massive department store is anchored by Robinsons, and boasts an enormous range of other retailers, restaurants and entertaining attractions. One of the newer shopping experiences in the district is The Shoppes, which includes a series of modern arcades connected together below a condominium complex. a
