Sitting on the coast of the Andaman Sea, with its towering limestone cliffs, beautiful beaches and laid-back atmosphere, is the picturesque Railay Beach. Railay Beach has been popular amongst climbers for decades, but its serene beauty is now attracting all types of tourists. There are two beaches here, East Railay Beach and West Railay Beach, with the former being the main docking point to this otherwise inaccessible part of Krabi.

Nature is the main attraction in Railay Beach, with attractions and activities being based around it.

If you love jungles, caves and other scenery visit Phra Nang Cave, go trekking up to the lagoon viewpoint (Sa Phra Nang) or hike through the mountain area. For water sports, try kayaking around the peninsula or book a diving or snorkelling trip with one of the local businesses.

Climbing is a must while in Railay Beach, as it is actually one of the top climbing spots in the world. There are over 700 bolted routes up the limestone cliff that, as well as being adventurous, also offers spectacular views of the sea.

Eating is a bit expensive on Railay Beach due to the cost of bringing things over. Plus, it is a predominantly tourist spot, with restaurants catering to this. Thai and international cuisine is available both in standalone restaurants and in those inside the resorts, with East Railay Beach having a wider selection. There are a few beachfront bars that are open well into the night for enjoying a beer or a cocktail while overlooking the sea.

There are a couple of convenience stores on Railay Beach that sell snacks and drinks at extremely high prices. Railay Beach also has a few small shops that sell souvenirs, beachwear and clothing, though most visitors will find better and cheaper options in Ao Nang.
