"We had a lovely stay at Barceló Funchal Old Town! The hotel was spotless, the staff were incredible, and the rooftop pool was a highlight. We loved being right in the heart of Funchal, just a short walk from the marina, restaurants, shops, atms, etc… and an easy ride to the airport. My only small complaint was that our room felt a little warm and humid at times. Everything else was wonderful, and I’d happily stay here again."

"The Savoy Palace was absolutely amazing in every way - from the decor, cleanliness, style, ambiance, the grounds, the customer service to the food! Every single employee that we encountered showed such professionalism, warmth, and kindness. The front desk made sure we had everything we needed, made excellent dining recommendations and answered every question we had. We had our 6-year-old with us and as soon as she stepped into the Kids Club/playroom she wanted to come back every day. Not only...

"The small gym was empty both times I went, which was great for me. I never saw anyone swimming in the gorgeous pool, possibly because it’s not very hot this time of year. Staff at reception very helpful. Located extremely close to restaurants and shops. Only thing I didn’t like was breakfast. They have 2 coffee machines that maybe fancy drinks which were great, but the food selection wasn’t appetizing. It was on par with a normal hotel continental breakfast."

"We had a truly wonderful stay here. On the days we weren't out for a hike, we loved making the most of the outdoor pool, and the sauna was really pleasant too. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a brilliant selection, and the rooftop bar offers cracking views in the evening. Honestly, though, the staff were the real highlight—everyone at reception was super helpful and went the extra mile to look after us. Management should be chuffed to bits with the team. Would definitely recommend."

"The location and views were amazing, but unfortunately, several aspects of our stay were disappointing.
There was an overwhelming smell of vinegar in the room, and the patio was covered in ants, which really detracted from the experience. We were also shocked to discover that pool towels cost €10. Charging guests extra for something as basic as a pool towel feels unreasonable and left a poor impression.
We can’t comment on the breakfast itself, as we had to check out before 7 a.m. We did,...
