"We loved every minute of our stay at El Colonial. Because we booked through Expedia (we think?), we had access to the unlimited open bar in reception, but the main perk of that was the bartenders! Friendly, knowledgeable, interesting -- talking to the bartenders and hearing about PR was literally the highlight of our trip. Also, wonderfully, the way the light hit our particular room meant that, in the mornings, there was a camera obscura projection of the street outside onto our roof! 100/10...

"This hotel is in the middle of everything. No need to rent a car. You can walk to some great restaurants and shops. There is a lot of history nearby and the Fort at Old San Juan is only 15 minutes away on foot. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and air conditioned. Would have been nice if our room had a window, but that was no big deal. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. They held our luggage after we checked out at 11am so we could explore the area before we left...
