"FRANZ HONAUER wurde am 31. August 1806 als Müllerssohn in Geisheim (Bayern) geboren. Nachdem er in seiner Heimat das Schank- und Wirtsgewerbe erlernte, kam er als 14-jähriger Kellnerjunge nach Österreich. Ende der 1820er hatte er sich bereits im Wiener Hotel „Dreifaltigkeit“ zum Zahl- und Zimmerkellner hinaufgearbeitet. Dieses Hotel war damals besonders für Gäste aus Linz ein beliebtes Emplacement.
