"The location is pretty good, with available parking nearby, for a fee. The hotel is nicely appointed, modern, and kept very clean.
Unfortunately, consistent with the Riu brand, staff training is significantly lacking, which results in poor customer service and treatment of guests. Staff have no idea about how to make guests feel welcome or at ease. Security is very imposing, off-putting, and lacking subtlety. Guests are made to feel uncomfortable as staff are accusatory and unfriendly.
While it is appreciated that the breakfast is included, the food quality is lacking noticeably. Case in point, the food offered in the lobby, for a fee, is far better. They won't even permit guests to bring anything back to their room. Guests are policed and scrutinized no matter where they are. It is beyond uncomfortable.
Futhermore, the room temperature could not be controlled by guests, and was uncomfortably warm, no matter the setting. This must be remedied.
We would never recommend any Riu property for these same reasons, whether you are considering a stay in North America, Europe, or the Caribbean."
