"First, the front desk supervisor was not overly friendly. She spoke to us quickly in a rather harsh tone. Going up the room, we wondered if the elevator would make it. Then, once in our room, we found the shade broken, which prevented any light from entering the room. We asked to be moved to another room, and the front desk supervisor said that wasn't possible given our reservation. Really? When maintenance arrived to look at the blind, his response was, "Yeah, it's toast." There were also clumps of dust on the walls. When we asked again to be moved to another room, we were offered a reduced rate or a room at the Holiday Inn next door. However, the hotel manager stepped in and promptly moved us. The new room was okay, I guess, although not really considering the cost of the stay. Laminate was missing from areas on the furniture, the bottom sheet had a rip exposing the mattress, and the shower drain was rusted and gross. The only ice machine that worked was in the lobby. Breakfast was below average (e.g., the hard-boiled eggs wouldn't peel.) We tried the connecting restaurant, and it was empty, like, where are the customers at peak breakfast time on a Sunday morning? We won't be back. "

"My family and I needed a place to spend the night by Iowa City and this hotel served the basic necessities. Nothing overly amazing but it was not bad at all!"

"Parking was convenient and plentiful just not attached to hotel itself. Staff was consistently friendly, helpful, & attentive to any question we had. Absolute gem in the perfect location."

"Friendly staff yet unknowledgable about breakfast or live music that was advertised. Requested room cleaning prior to arrival. Never happened. "

"Breakfast was okay, not great. Staff we interacted with had personal electronic devices they were starting at. Did not stand to greet us. They're was no bar service however there was a stocked bar. The room was not clean. 1 tv did not work. Very loud above us had to go complain after 10pm and then lots again very early. "

"This had been a very interesting stay my first room had a door that trapped me in as well as out the second room smelled horribly of cheese and feet or something and the third room has hair and dried blood on the sheets in which time I was pretty much told there was nothing that could be done "

"Stayed here multiple times when in the area. The hotel is always clean and service is wonderful. The complementary drinks and appetizers in the evening are great. Will definitely stay again when in town"
