We had a wonderful stay. The staff were absolutely delightful and went out of their way to accommodate any requests including the dietary requirements of one person in our group. We were on the breakfast and dinner meal package and the options each day were fantastic, with a vast selection of European and Japanese options.
One thing to note is that the hotel isn’t located in a town centre. Instead, it’s directly opposite a beginner lift in the Imori area, giving easy access to the slopes.
The hotel itself is fairly basic, but it’s very clean and the staff more than make up for it with their warmth and helpfulness. There are free hot drinks in the foyer, an onsen, washing/drying facilities and the hotel will provide free transfers to train/bus station (or even to Lawsons/711 if you need supplies!) There’s also a games room with a pool table and table tennis.
If you’re looking for nightlife, this probably isn’t the spot for you; but for a relaxed, comfortable tradtitonal Japanese ski stay, we couldn’t fault it.
Food was wonderful! Japanese style breakfast available and other delicious foods as well. Dinner had hot pot style dish as well as other buffet style foods.
I visited Hakuba Sun Valley with my partner and 2 children and we LOVED it!
The location is amazing, directly opposite the chair lift, and the staff were helpful, friendly and attentive.
We will definitely be staying here again next season!
Staying right on the snow - ski in ski out was fantastic! Not many dining options at night so either eat early or get shuttle into echo land

Meh facility/Great staff
If you need a place to stay and there’s nothing else available this will do. The main light switch as you enter our room was kept on with a toothbrush stuck into the socket LOL. Great staff! Excellent service from the front desk but it’s a rundown older Hotel that basis its prices off of convenience to the beginner lift.
100% recommend! The staff are all super helpful. Breakfast and dinner are delicious!
When we first arrived at Hakuba station, the hotel said they will arrange a pick up for us. The moment we stepped out of the station, the hotel staff was there waiting with a signage that made it easy for us to find. He was even willing to bring us to a nearby convenient store to buy stuff if needed, even though we didn't need to.
At the hotel, we managed to get early check in which was great and allowed us to get our ski equipment and lesson for the kids at 2pm. The hotel staff was very helpful and pointed us to nearby places where we can quickly get our gear and lessons. We managed to get the last lesson slot for the day at Iimori with an English speaking instructor.
For the next day, there were no more lessons available at Iimori but the hotel managed to helped us book the last Chinese speaking instructor at Hakuba Goryu, which was great. We can speak English and Chinese, but not that much of Japanese. The hotel staff was even so kind to send us over to Hakuba Goryu as we had two young kids, so we don't have to walk a bit to wait for the shuttle bus.
On our last day, we used the new ski equipment rental shop right at the hotel and just walked across to the slopes to snowboard. We managed to get a morning session in after we check out and leave our bags with the hotel.
After which the hotel staff send us to Hakuba station to catch our train!
Thank you and loved our stay!
The staff at this property are unbelievable. They go out of their way for you. The hotel has pretty much ski in, with access to the chair lift right outside the front door. Dinner is amazing, breakfast is not as good, but has plenty on offer with fruits, hot and cold options.
The onsen downstairs was renovated whilst we were staying there and looks great, much more inviting.
Access to the Hakuba Valley Shuttle just up the road, walkable.
Although the idea of sleeping on a mattress on the floor and living out of suitcases was not appealing at first we got used to it, and ended up enjoying our stay thoroughly.
Room was functional but very tired/worn. A lot of smelly kerosene heaters to keep things warm, which was not great. I'm 6t'3" and couldn't shower in the tiny bathroom. There is a small functional onsen downstairs, opens at 16:00 but not really warm until about 17:00 o so. Breakfast is functional but pretty plain; not a lot of variety day to day. The family that runs it is LOVELY and very accommodating, I can't praise them enough for the service, but I'd call this a two star property at best.
Stayed here for 4 nights and it was the perfect spot for skiing. Just opposite the beginner slope chair lift and only a short walk from the ski school. The staff were excellent and very welcoming, especially the man at reception. We really appreciated the buffet dinner after long days of skiing. Would definitely recommend booking a stay here. Rooms are very cosy and beds are comfy.
Hotel was fantastic - location is ideal for snow access with one lift across the road (10 metres) and another two within a short walk. The runs at the resort at perfect for early beginners, but easily connect to the gondola for more experienced riders.
Location is too far from restaurants to walk, a shuttle or taxi is required. We didn't mind, the food at the hotel was great and we preferred the excellent snow access.
Staff were really helpful, picking us up from Hakuba Goryu and dropping us off on the way out.
The food was really good - a few rotating buffets for breakfast including different types of eggs (scrambled, poached, boiled, omelette) and sides like bacon or pork or sausages.
Dinner was wonderful each night - something different and Japanese plated for us along with a buffet selection or sides.
Bathroom was small but serviceable, room size was otherwise good.
I read some of the really negative reviews before coming and it made me incorrectly worried about the hotel - we had a great experience and I don't understand those reviewers at all. This was a great lodge like experience right on the snow.
