"Friendly staff, James was great when he checked us in, he showed us to our room and gave us some tips on travel to Edinburgh and how to get to the beach from t he hotel. The pool was good. The room was big and clean .but there were. Pair of children knickers left in one of the drawers from previous guests.but the beds were comfy and the room was clean..it was a great base for travelling Edinburgh and close to amenities and a very good bus service"

"This is a well-located hotel on several bus routes with a handy Tesco next door. The room was clean and comfortable despite showing its age in places, and both the bedroom and bathroom were spacious. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection of hot and cold food in unlimited supply. However, the hotel needs a bit of an overhaul, which perhaps it's currently getting according to some posted signs. The restaurant is in a sad state overall, with carpets and furnishings very worn and stained, and badly in need of replacement. The 50-year-old steakhouse (where breakfast is also served) was hardly open outside of breakfast hours, and the bar closed at 10 on the rare nights it was actually open. Staff availability seems to be an issue, but we must say that the staff at breakfast worked hard and were very pleasant. We would return for the location and the breakfast but hope to find a refreshed hotel next time."

"Though an old building, it is very well maintained. Very clean and the host (Alice) very friendly and helpful. it is beautifully placed and our room overlooked the Musselburgh Racecourse/ golfing green. Breakfast (though continental) was very nice and you were able to choose what you wanted and at what time and this was brought up to your room in a lovely basket. Our whole stay there was lovely and would definitely stay there again :)"

"Very clean and convenient. A little strange that I had to give my license plate number as they have a private park ing ticketing company given parking tickets out. I guess it's a way to make money off guest if they forget to punch in. Stayed in Hotels all over the world, but never seen this tourist trap before."
