Unique Hotel
It is a very special hotel. Very unique you will never stay in such a place with so much history and so well kept. If you’re a bit of a claustrophobic, I would suggest you to take a Palazzo room rather than a cave room.

Séjour exceptionnel
Séjour exceptionnel ! La chambre était parfaite , nous avons été accueillis avec un plateau de fruit et une bouteille de vin, l’ambiance était parfaite avec des bougies allumées dans toutes la chambre ou plutôt la grotte , l’expérience était incroyable, tout est restée naturelle , Le petit déjeuner est parfait , avec beaucoup de choix , on peut déjeuner à l’extérieur avec une vue magnifique ! Nous avons été accueillis par Christina ! Qui parle très bien le français 😁, elle nous as fait une petite visite avec l’histoire de l’hôtel ! Parfait ! Il y a un parking à l’extérieur du centre historique qui travaille avec l’hôtel et ils mettent des navettes à disposition ! Je recommande a 100% pour un voyage romantique !

Great property and staff. Would suggest having some type of basic sundries and a mirror in bathroom with lights, tough to see when shaving or wife doing hair etc. Breakfast is amazing, location is perfect in the Sassi. Highly recommend!

Staff was super friendly and accommodating from the moment we checked in, all the way to check out. The room was so well put together and instagramable. Loved it :)

Rustic cave hotel that is one of a kind. Hotel Room floors are extremely uneven. Room are extremely dark and hard to see. Doors had lots of wholes and not private. Bathrooms need additional sink and better mirrors.

Perfect location.. Extremely friendly staff - who went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great experience. The experience of living in a cave was unique and one of a kind (only downside being no bathroom door in the room while staying with kids). It is in the prime location, with amazing views right outside your front door! I definitely recommend!

Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita is one of the best hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying in, truly unique & memorable! The location was perfect for me, on the outer edge of the Sassi with a beautiful view of the Parco della Murgia Materana. Yet a 5 minute hike to the other side of the hill will have you in the heart of Matera. The room was very clean, furnished with rustic original furniture. When lit with the ample candles provided, one can get a very small sense of how people once lived in the Sassi. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was the best I've ever had in a hotel, stocked with delicious local foods and serviced by a kitchen which provided cooked-to-order eggs and amazing cappucino. The Sextantio Group philosophy of the "Albergo Diffuso" is enlightening and admirable. Their goal is to provide unique travel experiences while preserving cultural and historical heritage, and the result for the guests is an unforgettable experience.

This is a very special property that is unlike any other hotel we have stayed before. It’s a repurposed cave with minimal adaptions but enough to deliver a very comfortable hospitality experience. Very welcoming and warm staff. We have already recommended this hotel to friends and families.

WONDERFUL
Everything was just perfect - besides the unique rooms (perfectly clean, just as romantic as on the Pictures) especially the great quality of the breakfast and the amazing staff. They were super friendly and helpful and definitely went the extra mile (like Antonio who told us everything about the Place or his colleague who was already off duty and ran into us at the street and asked us if we where guests at the hotel. Then he ran back (in that Heat) to get the Porter to help us carry the luggage. Upon departure a maintenance colleague who was just around just helped us carrying… wow!) There‘s not a single negative point. Just go there and convince yourself 😉 Grazie Mille to the whole team for an amazing start into our long longed-for holidays!
