It's is a Romanticist castle that stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains. And undoubtedly one of the most iconic places in Portugal. And a dream come true to visit it! It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. Perfect Pre-Wedding Stay

Stayed here the night before a wedding at Penha Longa — the place was super clean, spacious, and even nicer than we expected. The bathroom was great, breakfast was fresh and delicious, and the pool had amazing views. Not walkable, so you’ll need a car or Uber, but it’s peaceful and quiet. Would definitely stay here again.

This boutique hotel is a 300 year old bishop's house totally renovated and beautiful. It's near the racetrack but quiet and rural. Breakfast was made for us, a real treat.

We loved our stay here. The front desk team gave us a warm welcome and a nice big room that was well laid out. Also, beautiful historic property. Breakfast was included and was delicious. I think they had the most fresh fruit selection I had seen thus far and I enjoyed the ‘to order’ component. We stayed 2 nights and highly recommend the spot!

Quiet Luxury

Booked a last-minute stay here and was pleased with the price and the room upgrade that I received. The room and bathroom were massive, tasteful, and very comfortable. The property itself is also really nice and I had the lovely infinity pool all to myself in the evening and morning. The breakfast was also phenomenal - a huge variety of lovely fresh fruit, fresh pastries, coffee and juices, and delicious fresh cooked eggs and bacon were included. The staff were available and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this to others - if you're treating yourself to a luxurious evening I think this place provides better value for money compared to other options in the Sintra area.

The hotel itself was great. However we thought we were going to be in Sintra and we are not so that part was a bit disappointing. That being said the hotel sent us to a local restaurant where we had one of our best meals. And waking up in a quiet area is very nice!

Johnny and Sheila at the reception were absolutely lovely. The bedroom was spacious and the bathroom also. comfortable bed. Nice sheets as well. The complimentary breakfast in their dinning area was light and perfect. They cooked your egg at request. Place has 11 rooms and is quaint and perfect. Clean pool.

It is hard to criticize our stay here because it was wonderful… The staff were great. The breakfast was great, the lounge area and pool were all very nice. If I had any complaint at all, it would be that there were a bunch of dogs close by that barked continuously day and night. If I had to stay there longer, it would’ve been difficult but because we were always out during the day and were able to close our windows at night, it helped to minimize the barking noise. I’m sure the owners of this place have tried to talk to these people to somehow stop the barking. But it was very comfortable and the bed was super cosy with nice duvet and sheets.

A hidden gem!

Paço do Bispo is perfectly situated in the country, quite close to Sintra and Cascáis. It’s a good option for those driving but apparently it’s not hard to get an Uber. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The full breakfast, included in your stay, cannot be beat. The pool looks lovely but we didn’t use it due to inclement weather. The rooms are spacious and beds very comfortable. Nice big TV with lots of channels. Highly recommend this place! We liked it so much we stayed another day.

Lovely, lovely, lovely place! Way beyond our wildest expectations. The setting is idyllic, the property set in a valley surrounded by hills covered by evergreen forests near Sintra and appears to have been part of a village in the past. The lounge was once a Chapel and has been tastefully transformed into a modern lounge with proper mood lighting and music. Restaurants are a short drive away (ask the hotel about O Tavares!) Hotel has complementary breakfast which is actually better than we expected. Beautiful infinity pool, rooms are very elegant indeed and the staff could not have been friendlier. We will be returning to this place for a longer stay, that’s for certain!
