It's is a Romanticist castle that stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains. And undoubtedly one of the most iconic places in Portugal. And a dream come true to visit it! It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. Extremely friendly staff and owner made us feel like family. We weren't expecting the room to be serviced after the first night on a two night stay, but it was, unasked, including setting up a drying rack for the clothes we had washed and hung the night before. Clean self-service kitchen. Very charming.

The property itself was very cosy, comfortable and quaint. It is a guest house with large, shared kitchen area. The area it is located in has limited opportunities for buying groceries for those without a car. There is a wonderful restaurant, Caricato, within walking distance but you need to book! We enjoyed our stay here!

Beware: there is no on-site parking, laundry facilities in room, or breakfast (all were listed online). These were search criteria we used to find this property. We are traveling Portugal by car and safe parking and laundry were important to us. We arrived to find the only parking available was street parking - yes, it was free, but it was not on-site as advertised. The online posting said this property has washer and dryer in every unit. Not only is this not true, there was no laundry facilities available for guests. But they did offer to wash a load of laundry for us for 20 euro!! Lastly, there is no breakfast provided as advertised.

The room was lovely and comfortable, and oh so quiet. I enjoyed eating my breakfast on the balcony in the sun, which I prepared in the shared kitchen. The downside is only that you are quite far out from Sintra and even further away from Lisbon. If you don't rent a car (which would be better), public transportation is doable, but it will take a lot of your time, as I found out!

Loved it. Very welcoming but the website needs to be updated. There is no bar, no room service and no free breakfast so for that reason, I could only give it a 4 star. But Helena was amazing and the property itself was super peaceful and welcoming. Highly recommend it.

Very nice property the owner was very approachable the lady running the house very nice. Place was spotless the linens were high quality finishes nice and lots of out door space to relax after along day exploring Sintra. There are two really good restaurants one walkable one 2 kms away.

The room was fine. The property is not in central Sintra, so you need a car or rely on Uber. There are several good restaurants in the area and ee enjoyed breakfast at the market about a 12 monute walk. Being out of Sintra ot id much less busy.
