"This is a hidden gem. Yes, it is a shared bathroom, and as an American that was strange to me, but it was a private one and well maintained, with toiletries provided. My bedroom had a sink which was also useful. It's <10 minutes walking to the train station which is also nice. The staff were friendly and accommodating when I needed to leave my luggage with them after checkout"

"This was a very special stay. Spacious, clean room, adorned with antiques & thoughtful details to make your stay more comfortable & enjoyable: coffee/cream/sugar set with scones/ GF biscuit, butter & jam upon arrival, chocolates not only in your room but in candy dishes on the stair landings, Epsom salts for the soaker tub, a few stairs but they will help carry luggage if you need it. Incredible breakfast-hot, made to order by your host. Absolutely delicious, served on fine china in the cozy...

"This is a lovely hotel, well situated and very clean and well maintained. I was expecting a cosy room and was not disappointed. The room I had had a flight of stairs from the entrance door to the bedroom which were a bit steep and could be a struggle for some, so if that was a problem I’d ask about it when booking. The automated check in was very smooth. Parking is relatively easy in the street at weekends but more limited at other times."

"Probably the best place to stay in when in Edinburgh , will definetely come back and stay here again!
Very clean and well located space. Quiet and well equiped, nothing to envy from hotels that charge way more and offer way less."

"The room was big and felt very comfortable and luxurious. The bed was huge and super comfy. Shower was good. Loved the decor. The Ropemaker room is in the basement but it was still felt light and airy - you could open the window. Lovely building. Quiet building. Welcoming entrance. Great location, just off Leith High Street and a tram stop round the corner. Easy to get into Central Edinburgh.
A second mirror in the room itself would be useful especially for women to dry their hair or put on...
