**Review of Key Colony Aqua Lodge in Marathon**
I recently stayed at Key Colony Aqua Lodge with my family of four, and while our initial impressions were positive, our experience quickly took a downturn.
Upon arrival, the lodge was clean and had a pleasant smell, which set a good tone for our stay. The size of the accommodation was perfect for our family, providing enough space for everyone to feel comfortable. However, shortly after checking in, we encountered a significant issue: the bathroom began to emit a strong, unpleasant odor that persisted throughout our trip. Unfortunately, the smell became unbearable, prompting us to check out a day early.
While most of the staff were friendly and accommodating, our interactions with the older l woman-at the Cabana Beach Club pool was less than welcoming. Her demeanor made us feel as though we were intruding, which put a damper on our experience.
Additionally, the water surrounding the Aqua Lodge was surprisingly dirty, littered with garbage that was not reflected in the promotional pictures. The presence of numerous fishing boats nearby also detracted from the picturesque setting we had anticipated.
It's worth mentioning that there are only two Aqua Lodges in the Colony, and we often felt out of place among the locals, especially while navigating through the area with our family.
In summary, while the lodge offers a good-sized space for families, the experience felt more like staying in an RV than a vacation rental.
